SOSNA is a non-governmental, non-profit, non political organization. SOSNA has 75 members, 4 employees on permanent work contract, 5 external co-operators and more than 20 adult volunteers.
SOSNA foundation starts up at 1992 with an aim to help nature, environment in Košice and its surroundings. In spite of that, SOSNA was established as a foundation, in reality it never fulfilled the criteria of a foundation, but was always focused on practical realising of its own aims. Because of this in 1997 SOSNA was transformed to a civil association and in this form has been functioning till nowadays.
Mission of SOSNA is to connect and activate people with an aim of supporting and realising alternative models of solutions of environmental problems, in preference, on the local and regional level.
SOSNA fulfils its mission trough programmes:
- river programmes
- environmental education
- ecological houses
- natural (bio) gardens
SOSNA fulfils its mission trough activities:
- realising pilot projects on the basis of sustainable development
- realising education programmes
- organising creative work-shops, lectures, discussions, exhibitions
- realising publicising
- creating networks of people, whose connects the effort of living considerately to their environment
SOSNA realises its programmes mostly on its own place of education Eco Centre and its yard. At the same time SOSNA realises other programmes in cooperation with schools, municipalities, local civil organizations in the region of Košice County
